OSTN Staff

Simply put, it’s our job to find the best beauty products out there for you. From the newest serum to the hottest lipstick color to the dry shampoo that will change your life, we will find it, test it, and let you know what we think. We’re not complaining. It’s a pretty fun gig, and we’ll volunteer to be beauty guinea pigs any day.

But one of the cool things to come out of this is finding out what products you’re loving and buying. It helps us figure out what you want to learn more about and what you’re into so we can bring even more personalized recs to you.

Because we share a lot of our favorites with you every single day, we recognize it might be hard to keep up. So we’ve decided to put together a handy weekly list of what we love and what you love—consider this a CliffsNotes, one-stop shop of what’s really trending and worth adding to your cart at this very moment.

Take a look at what the Who What Wear universe (including editors, staffers, and readers) is obsessed with right now, and if you don’t see a new favorite on this list, we’d love to know. Send us a DM

Sunscreen is a must year-round, but it’s even more important during the summer. This editor favorite goes on so light and matte. It even works as a makeup primer.

Associate beauty editor Courtney Higgs recommends this gentle cleanser for your summer skincare routine. Since she limits her acid exfoliation during the summer, she reaches for enzyme cleansers that will still get her skin extra clean, and this one from EltaMD does the trick.

Another one on our list of summer beauty products, this mask is packed with superfoods like chlorella, spirulina, and mango juice to soothe stressed-out skin. It also works to reduce inflammation and protect against environmental damage.

I’m a big fan of thirst-quenching gel moisturizers year-round, but I especially love using them in the summer because they’re so lightweight and cooling. My absolute favorite is Neutrogena’s water gel.

Australian Gold’s sunscreens are on our list of best mineral sunscreens. This particular one is tinted, and contains titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and botanicals like kakadu plum, eucalyptus, and red algae.

If summer leaves you with super-dry, parched skin, a body oil provides quick relief. Palmer’s body oil contains cocoa butter, vitamin E, soybean, sesame, and safflower to hydrate the skin and leave it moisturized for 24 hours.

Summer temperatures can soar and you might not be near the pool or the beach, but this refreshing mist could be your next best option. It contains watermelon, hyaluronic acid, and hibiscus flower AHA—all of which soothe and hydrate the skin while prepping it for makeup.

You can still get that summer glow without the sun damage. This best-selling self-tanner can help. It’s good for all skin types and is formulated with organic ingredients like shea butter, green tea extract, and coconut oil. It’s on our list of best non-toxic self-tanners.

Apply this sunscreen all over your body and you’ll be set for the beach or pool for up to 80 minutes. It provides UVA/UVB protection and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy or sticky.

Relieve your tired, irritated skin in two steps with Dr. Dennis Gross’ mask. It’s especially helpful after you’ve spent a day out in the sun. Mix the hyaluronic cushion gel with activating powder in a bowl and apply to skin, and then leave on for five to seven minutes (up to 15 minutes). Lift off the mask and remove any excess product, and then you’re done (you don’t even have to rinse it off!).

Another one on our best nontoxic self tanner list, Botanic Tree’s product doesn’t leave your skin with an orange tint and won’t stain. It’s also safe to use if you have sensitive skin since it’s free of parabens and made with organic ingredients like jojoba, apricot, avocado, grape seed, and coconut.

This facial sunscreen is dermatologist-recommended because it really works to protect the skin from sun damage while also calming skin that’s prone to acne, rosacea, and discoloration. It’s made with 9% zinc oxide and doesn’t contain fragrance, oil, or parabens.

Higgs also swaps out her stick concealers for tinted moisturizers during the summer when it comes to her makeup routine. This one from Kosas contains nourishing avocado, meadowfoam, red raspberry, jojoba, camellia seed, and rosehip seed oils.

Sheer lipsticks are so low-maintenance and don’t feel super heavy, which is important when you’re dealing with hot temperatures. Glossier’s Generation G adapts to your lip color and goes on with a matte finish.

Waterproof mascara isn’t just for tears—it’s also sweat-proof. Lash Paradise made our list of best waterproof mascaras because it volumizes, lengthens, and lasts the whole day.

If you’re going to moisturize your lips, why not protect it from sun damage, too? On our list of best lip balms with SPF is Jack Black’s version, which is formulated with grapefruit, ginger, shea butter, avocado oil, vitamin E, green tea extract, and antioxidants.

Higgs recommends this mattifying primer, especially in the summer, because it has java tea leaf that controls and balances oil. Plus, it won’t leave your skin dry because it’s got grape-seed oil.

Here’s another sheer lipstick that’s just perfect for the season. Moringa and passionfruit seed oils both enhance color and moisturize lips. Plus, the formula is lightweight and long-lasting.

Who wants to wear heavy foundation when it’s sweltering outside? Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer is an industry favorite. It’s formulated with macadamia and kukui seed oils to increase moisture and reduce the signs of aging. The tamarind-seed extract also helps to keep the skin hydrated and protected.

To achieve a summery glow without having to spend time in the sun, I reach for a bronzer and highlighter. This three-in-one palette is lightweight and goes on so smoothly. It’s buildable, so you can really play around with how “glowy” and “sun-kissed” you want to look.
