COVID-19

One out of three pubs failed this test

Hospitality venues and hairdressers were told they had to start using the Service NSW QR code system to record customer contact details starting New Year’s Day. Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello, who is responsible for Service NSW, gave an update on that rollout on Wednesday. He said the government had clocked three million downloads of the smartphone application, a “pretty good milestone”.

More than 100,000 businesses have used the system to register customers 32 million times. But out of 486 businesses inspected, nearly a third had not implemented the government system, Mr Dominello said. “As of yesterday, 71 per cent of mandated businesses (that) were inspected are using the Service NSW QR code system. There‘s room for improvement,” Mr Dominello said.“I want to thank the businesses part of the 71 per cent, and for the ones that are not, you have to lift your game.”He said there had been 320 penalty notices issued, and four venues that had been forced to close temporarily due to COVID-19 rule breaches. “So, again, we‘re prepared to close businesses down when they are flagrantly breaching public health orders and putting everyone at risk,” Mr Dominello said. Three million people have downloaded the Service NSW app.
