Maroondah school shuts after family Covid scare

Ringwood’s Aquinas College emailed and texted parents late on Tuesday night, advising a Year 12 student attended its Great Ryrie St campus on Tuesday unaware their family had been tested.Principal Darren Atkinson said a person living at the student’s home tested positive to the virus, and the student had since been tested and was awaiting their result.Mr Atkinson said the school “wish the family all the best and we pray for a speedy recovery.”All on-site classes scheduled for Wednesday are being conducted online with the school closed “in an abundance of caution”.A Catholic Education Victoria spokesman confirmed school buildings were being deep cleaned this morning.The school has promised to communicate any developments on the situation to students and their families.According to the DHHS, Maroondah recorded 14 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday and had 133 active cases in the community.kiel.egging@news.com.au
