Covid cancels MasterChef filming

The hugely popular show, which is filming at present the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale, has seen several members of the large production contract the virus.The filming schedule has been suspended while the individuals recover.It is understood some of those recovering from Covid-19 maybe contestants. All members of the show’s cast and crew are fully vaccinated.The company producing the show for Channel 10, Endemol Shine Australia, confirmed on Saturday filming had been paused.“Shooting on the upcoming season of MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites has been temporarily suspended due to several positive Covid cases within the production. Our judges, cast and crew are fully vaccinated, and we look forward to resuming filming shortly,” an Endemol Shine Australia spokesperson said.The new season of the show is tagged Fans & Favourites and sees 12 home cooks face off against 12 returning MasterChef favourites.Among the well-known favourites returning to the show are MasterChef series one winner Julie Goodwin and Sarah Todd. Michael Weldon, Tommy Pham, Alvin Quah and Sashi Cheliah are also expected to be among the favourites taking part in the much loved cooking series. The show’s celebrated judges Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Andy Allen will also be back dishing out advice and constructive criticism in 2022.
