Johnny Depp’s female fans are out of control

The fans — some of whom have travelled from as far as Australia to see Depp — have been packing the courtroom gallery since the trial started two weeks ago. After the group let out a roar of laughter at one point today, Judge Penney Azcarate was forced to warn: “Order in the court or I will have you removed. Understood?”Court reporter Angenette Levy said the laughter came as Heard’s lawyer Ben Rottenborn played audio recordings of Depp calling Heard a “fat arse” and a “f***ing c***” during a heated argument.“Whoa, is all I can say,” Levy tweeted. “Some of the fans inside the courtroom laughed as some of these things were read/played and Depp made remarks about them.”Depp also drew laughs when stumbling over a question from his lawyer about what films he had been in before being dropped from Pirates of the Carribean.“Boy, um, Alice in Wonderland? I’m so pathetic when it comes to knowing what movies I’ve done. I’m sorry,” the actor said, smiling sheepishly and looking around the room. “I don’t watch them. I feel better not watching them. I couldn’t, um, I — what was the question?”It was even more of a circus outside the courtroom where one fan — identified by the Washington Post as Andrea Diaz — stood with two emotional-support alpacas.“I thought the alpacas might brighten his day,” the Depp fan said, despite acknowledging he was unlikely to see them. “I figured I would just give it a shot.”As the third week of the trial kicks off, it’s good to remember why we are here: Johnny Depp, 58, is suing ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, for defamation. In 2018, Heard wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post calling herself a victim of “sexual violence” and while she didn’t name Depp in the essay, he says the piece ruined his career, branding him as an abuser.Did it? That’s for the 10-person jury in Fairfax, Virginia to decide, but Heard’s team maintains the Pirates of the Caribbean actor was already in turbulent waters, with money management issues, drug abuse problems, and chronic lateness problem that annoyed producers.Depp denies the claims he abused Heard, and says he was victim to the actress’ abuse. The major bombshell of today’s proceedings were the audio recordings. In one clip played, Heard screamed at Depp to “put his cigarettes out on someone else.”“Shut up fat arse,” he yelled back.Heard claimed the actor put his cigarette out on her — which he denied, telling the jury his ex was grossly exaggerating. In other snippets, played by Rottenborn, Depp calls Heard a “c***” and she referenced a time when he “beat the s***” out of her.It was also revealed Depp once texted his doctor that Heard “is as full of s*** as a Christmas goose”.The message came after the now-infamous 2015 fight with Heard in Australia that left Depp with a severed finger. In the same text, read in court, Depp called Heard “a malicious, evil and vindictive c***” who had an “obsession with herself” and was “so desperate for success and fame”.Court adjourned at 5.30pm local time. Depp’s team is expected to continue to call witnesses for the rest of the week, although insiders told The New York Post celebrity witnesses like Elon Musk and James Franco might not testify after all due to time restraints. On Wednesday (AEST), Tara Roberts, the estate manager of Depp’s Bahamas compound, is expected to take the stand via live video link. This article was originally published by the New York Post and reproduced with permission
