The former foreign minister posted a picture of the pair speaking with Prince Charles at a gala dinner just two days before Mr Panton broke the relationship off. Mr Panton, a NSW property developer, told South Australian-born Ms Bishop last Friday that the relationship was over, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.The conversation happened at the Eastbank restaurant on Macquarie St in Sydney.“I’m going to be focused on living in Manly and Melbourne for the foreseeable future,” Mr Panton said in a statement to the newspaper.“I wish Julie all the best in her ongoing stellar career.”Ms Bishop’s people said on Thursday that she would not be making any comments about the break-up. The high-flying former couple joined the future king of the UK for dinner at St James’s Palace to celebrate the efforts of those working for Prince Charles’ network of charity organisations, the Prince’s Trust.Ms Bishop was wined and dined in her capacity as chair of the Trust’s Australian arm, wearing a sparkling silver dress and joined by a tuxedo-clad Mr Panton.“Dinner at St James’s Palace hosted by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and President of (The Prince’s Trust),” she wrote in the caption for an Instagram post made on June 29.St. James’s Palace is the most senior royal palace in the United Kingdom and was residence to the kings and queens of England for more than 300 years until the reign of Queen Victoria.The Prince’s Trust Australia works in the areas of youth empowerment, sustainability and veterans affairs to help build better futures for individuals and communities.Founded by the Prince in 1976 using his navy severance pay of £7400, the Trust has grown into a global network of organisations running a range of philanthropic initiatives.In 2020-21, the organisation claims to have supported 60,146 young people in 16 countries.In Australia, the organisation has helped veterans and their families to launch more than 100 businesses to take them from working for the Defence Force to self-employment.The Australian branch of the Trust appointed Ms Bishop as chair in 2020.She is also acting as chancellor of Australian National University, chair of Telethon Kids Institute and as a patron of Shooting Stars – an education program for young Aboriginal girls.
