Melbourne model and fashion identity Demi Brereton, who made a splash last week as one of the ambassadors for the Victoria Racing Club’s bold and some would say unnecessary gender free revolution of Flemington’s Fashions On The Field competition, has emerged as a WAG.Brereton appeared on the blue carpet at the North Melbourne Football Club’s best and fairest dinner on Thursday on the arm of club vice-captain Jy Simpkin. The stylish pair posed up a storm on the media wall, something they should get used to doing as Brereton’s Melbourne Cup Carnival commitments kick in. They are about to be inundated with invitations from PRs looking to freshen up their guest lists.Simpkin was awarded the Syd Barker Medal as the Kangaroo’s best and fairest player for the 2022 season.Brereton is the daughter of former top jockey Danny Brereton and was previously the Moonee Valley Friday Night Lights Ambassador. She has grown up around racing and is a regular racegoer.Simpkin is one of the shining lights at the Kangaroos in the club’s dark days as it goes through a horrendous slump and starts on the long rebuild road.He was one of just three players to get the thumbs up from Gary Buckenara who assessed the current North Melbourne team in a Herald Sun article last week.He declared North had “the worst list in the competition by the length of the MCG,” and wrote of newly appointed coach Alastair Clarkson “there is no hiding the job he faces transforming a woeful list.”
