Accused murderer Vanroy Evan Smith
Orange County, California – Vanroy Evan Smith, 39, the man accused of striking a biking doctor with his Lexus and then fatally stabbing the victim was charged with murder on Friday.
A bicyclist was struck by a driver then fatally stabbed on Pacific Coast Highway and Crown Valley Parkway in Dana Point on Wednesday afternoon in what is believed to be a racially motivated attack.
Ring video captured by a nearby home shows Smith smashing his white Lexus into the biking doctor and sending him flying into the air.
Smith then quickly exited his vehicle and repeatedly stabbed the victim.
The victim, identified as 58-year-old Michael John Mammone, a Laguna Beach ER doctor, died at the hospital.

According to ABC 7, a neighbor who witnessed the attack heard the suspect uttering racial slurs about “white privilege.”
“ABC7 spoke with a neighbor who declined to be interviewed on camera. She said her family heard what sounded like a “gunshot” before the attack. When they ran outside, she said, they heard the suspect uttering racial slurs about “white privilege.”” the outlet reported.
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer charged Vanroy Evan Smith with one count of felony murder and one felony enhancement of the personal use of a knife.
It turns out Vanroy Evan Smith previously ranted about race and ethnicity on Facebook.
