Dying Light’s Techland Shares New Fantasy Game Art Confirming Climbing and a Huge World

Dying Light dev Techland has been teasing a new open-world fantasy RPG would be their next big thing after Dying Light 2 for some time, and now they’ve shared a new piece of concept art for the project. Much like the first piece of concept art Techland shared last year, the art shows a more natural environment than we’re used to from them dotted with large cliffs and various temples and ruins, but this new image shows a bit more.

First off, we see a character hanging off the branch of a large tree, clearly indicating the parkour climbing Techland perfected in Dying Light is returning. We also get a better sense of the scale Techland is working with – this image shows a very large world, with vistas spreading out in every direction. If you look closely, we also see people going into one of the temples and what appears to be a small village in the distance, so this isn’t going to be a lonely, abandoned world. It’s also definitely not an alternate version of earth, as we see a large shattered moon hanging in the sky. Check it all out for yourself, below.

We never stop improving!

“We never stop improving! Our newest game is set to be a narrative-driven #fantasy epic with an exotic open world ready to be explored. We strive to create a compelling story-focused AAA title that combines and refines the best aspects of gameplay that Techland is known for.”

Beyond what we’ve seen in these teaser images, we don’t really know that much about Techland’s fantasy game, but last year, they announced they’d poached a number of top names from CD Projekt Red to help make it, including The Witcher 3 narrative directors Karolina Stachyra and Arkadiusz Borowik, and open-world director Bartosz Ochman. Here’s what Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka has had to say about the game…

“Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years. We want to create a fully next-gen experience. A new fantasy epic set in a sprawling open world, fueled by the skills and experience we have gained as a team over the years, infused with new ideas, passion, and creativity. While we cannot share more details about this project now, we’re all truly invested in it and looking forward to showing it to gamers when the time is right.”

Platforms, a release window, or even a title for that matter, have yet to be revealed for Techland’s fantasy game. That said, what do you think? Excited to learn more about what they’re cooking up?
