NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition, Custom Models, GPU-Z Power / Thermals & Retail Listings Leak Out Ahead of Launch

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card is expected to launch next week and there’s already been countless amount of leaks.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Leaks Ahoy! Various Custom Models & Founders Edition Models Pictured

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card will come in both reference and non-reference flavors. The reference model which is known as the Founders Edition will utilize a more compact design in a dual-slot form factor with the same dual-fan flow-through design. While the reference models get a standard 16-pin power input, AIBs will be free to choose either a 16-pin or 8-pin connector on their non-reference cards.

As for the design itself, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Founders Edition looks like any other recent FE card that we have seen. The card will come with a very small PCB allowing the second fan at the front to blow air out of the die-cast aluminum heatsink. Users of the RTX 30 Founders Edition cards will recognize this design immediately. As for the display outputs, the card will get triple DP 1.4 and a single HDMI 2.1 port.

In addition to the Founders Edition model, several custom models have also been pictured from different AIBs. These models come with dual and triple-fan coolers in a 2-slot to 2.5-slot form factor. Once again, a few models that stick to the 200W TGP will feature an 8-pin connector while those that offer factory overclock will utilize the 16-pin connectors. We also got to see some recent benchmarks in Counter Strike 2 for the upcoming GPU.

Some of the models from MSI have even been listed by Italian retailer, Drako. There’s no pricing available on the models but the retailer has put up a timer that pretty much confirms the 13th April retail launch. The links to each product can be found below:

Not just that but various models from ASUS were also leaked and listed by a Vietnamese retailer. Although the retailer took down their listing, our friend, I_Leak_VN, managed to get hold of those right on time which you can see in the tweet below:

Besides this, there are also several unboxed and packaging photos of various cards from ZOTAC, Palit, and Colorful. The Colorful BattleAxe variant of the 4070 can be seen in the video below that comes from a Bilibili content maker:

There’s also a distributor who is showing off his stock of the MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 3x cards and based on the picture, it looks like the card will have really good availability at launch. The 4070 Ti is currently selling great in the gaming market so a cheaper cost 40 series is going to be in high demand at launch.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 “Final” Specs & GPU-z Screenshot Leak

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to feature the AD104-250/251 GPU core. The GPU will feature 5888 CUDA cores, and 12 GB GDDR6X VRAM clocked at 21 Gbps, driving the bandwidth up to 504 GB/s (a 12.5% increase over the RTX 3070), The GPU gets 36 MB L2 cache which is 9x higher than the RTX 3070’s GA104 GPU.

The graphics card is expected to feature a 200W TGP so you’re getting an 8% reduction in power compared to the RTX 3070. The slide also lists down average gaming power which is rated at 186 Watts or 13.5% lower than the RTX 3070 and 22.5% lower than the RTX 3070 Ti. This is in fact the same power consumption as the NVIDIA RTX 3060 while the card should deliver performance on par or faster than the RTX 3080 12 GB which consumed anywhere between 300-320W. That’s a massive increase in efficiency.

In the GPU-z leak, the graphics card can be seen peaking at 2805 MHz which is 330 MHz higher than its standard boost clock. This should net around 33 TFLOPs of Compute power which is 3 TFLOPs higher than the RTX 3080 12 GB. The GPU peaked out at 70C while the memory peaked slightly above 70C which is decent for the Founders Edition cooler. The GPU itself drew 170W of power while the board power consumption maxed out at 200W.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card is expected to launch on the 13th of April with reviews for the FE variant landing a day earlier followed by custom AIC reviews on launch day. The graphics card will retail at an official MSRP of $599 US though certain custom models with factory overclocks and better cooling designs will come at a slight premium.
