Rounding out a busy month of street style inspiration and surprisingly wearable runway trends, Paris Fashion Week — the city that concludes Fashion Month — served us some of the season’s biggest shows yet. As A-list celebrities, models, and fashion editors filled Parisian streets for the likes of Saint Laurent, Dior, Valentino, and Chanel, photographers outside the shows have captured the best transitional style moments that are sure to help us with between-season dressing.
Paris Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer ‘24 attendees have given us the fall styling tips we didn’t know we needed. Whether you’re looking for guidance on which staple pieces to re-wear over and over this autumn, or how many ways you can layer a white shirt, scroll along to see our favorite styling tips from these street style masters.
The white shirt
White collared shirts aren’t just for boardrooms. Use this versatile piece as an anchor for creative layering, for added warmth or if you want to get some more use out of your summer favorites. Bermuda shorts
Spotted several times at Paris Fashion Week, the big sister of capri trousers (which are also making a comeback) make a lot of sense when it comes to a transitioning wardrobe thanks to the silhouette’s knee length. Pair them with blazers or cropped jackets for a more autumnal feel.Photo: Christian Vierig/Getty ImagesPhoto: Christian Vierig/Getty ImagesPhoto: Christian Vierig/Getty Images
Cropped outerwear
This one’s simple. A cropped coat or jacket is perfect for fall days when it’s not too cold and not too warm. Plus, it won’t cover up your entire outfit so there’s plenty of room to let the rest of your outfit shine.

Playful textures
Wide-leg trousers are fine, but what about multilayered satin-and-tulle trousers?! Don’t be afraid to play around with different fabrics and textures — tassels, fringe, fuzzy materials, and more. If you’re not a statement-piece person, fabrics like quilting and leather are a more subtle way to catch the eye. Denim-on-denim
Double denim hasn’t gone anywhere, and this season jean midi and maxi skirts, in particular, are giving the casual fabric a run for its money. Not only is this reminiscent of Britney Spears’s iconic 2001 style, but doubling up on denim is a stylish way to keep warm in autumn. Opt for pieces in matching washes and simple silhouettes to keep the look fresh for 2023.Photo: Christian Vierig/Getty ImagesPhoto: Streetstyleshooters/Getty ImagesPhoto: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty ImagesPhoto: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty ImagesPhoto: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images
Maxi skirts
Speaking of maxi skirts, this is one seasonal staple you should most definitely have in your wardrobe. Whether you opt for a flowy, prairie-style skirt or something more A-line, you can easily pair it with everything from a tank top or a cardigan for a casual look to an embellished bomber jacket or a blouse for a more dressed-up ensemble.Photo: Jacopo Raule/Getty ImagesPhoto: Valentina Frugiuele/Getty Images

Autumn knits
Let the streets of Paris be your reminder: Knitwear doesn’t always have to mean jumpers. Whether it’s sleeveless vests or knit tanks, look for pieces that can stand on their own but also go over button-downs and underneath blazers. Knee-high boots
This one’s a timeless transitional-weather styling tip. Knee-high boots and mini skirts go together like peanut butter and jelly. Layer the combo with a long coat or a cosy knit for a deliciously autumn aesthetic. Socks and fancy shoes
Whoever convinced us that socks and pumps shouldn’t go together didn’t think about the increased usage you can get from your summer shoes once the temperatures dip. And ICYMI, balletcore is here to stay this season, which means there’s no better time to pair hosiery with the trendy ballet flat.Photo: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty ImagesPhoto: Pierre Suu/Getty ImagesPhoto: Edward Berthelot/Getty ImagesPhoto: Daniel Zuchnik/Getty Images
