Octogenarian Joe Biden Set to Announce 2024 Reelection Bid After Christmas

President Joe Biden, having just celebrated his 80th birthday, is set to announce his 2024 presidential campaign shortly after the holidays.

The news comes via White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, who explained the President’s intentions during a Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council summit on Monday.

“The president will make that decision. I expect it shortly after the holiday,” Klain said. “I expect the decision will be to do it.”

The President has repeatedly insisted he will run again in 2024 despite concerns over his age – he’d be 86 at the end of a second term – and frequently observed mental lapses.

Biden has said only family concerns or a surprise turn of events could dissuade him from running again.

Joe Biden Vows to Stop Trump in 2024

Aside from running for reelection potentially against the former President, Joe Biden made the startling suggestion that he would use “legitimate” Constitutional methods to assure Donald Trump “will not take power” in early 2025.

“How do you reassure [world leaders] … that the former President will not return or that his political movement, which is still very strong, will not once again take power in the United States?” a reporter asked.

“Well, we just have to demonstrate that he will not take power by — if we — if he does run,” Biden responded. “I’m making sure he, under legitimate efforts of our Constitution, does not become the next President again.”

Biden is coming off a perceived victory in the midterms, having avoided suffering the massive losses that were expected for his party.

“While the press and the pundits predict[ed] a giant red wave, it didn’t happen,” he bragged.

President Biden: “All of you heard from the press and the pundits was that Democrats are facing a disaster. Remember that? And all those polls, all those polls, God love them. You know, historic losses were on the way, a giant red wave. Folks, that didn’t happen.” pic.twitter.com/6TRqAd0sC1

Trump v. Biden

Former President Trump announced his third presidential campaign shortly after the midterms, which some critics viewed as a referendum on politicians who were supported by him and who, in turn, cast doubts on the 2020 election.

A showdown between Trump and President Biden is seemingly the rematch nobody is looking forward to seeing. Yet they remain defiant.

When a reporter explained that two-thirds of Americans in exit polls don’t want to see Biden run in 2024, the President responded: “Watch me.”

A recent YouGov poll shows a majority of voters don’t want to see Biden represent the Democrat Party, nor do they wish to see Trump as the Republican nominee.

56% say they don’t want the current President to run, while 53% don’t want Trump to participate either.

A mere 6% want them both to run again.
