Philips UK introduced the company’s new gaming display line, Evnia, offering two new models for customers — the Evnia 8000 series 34-inch WQHD and 42-inch 4K UHD gaming monitors — delivering the quality of images that Philips is known for with their consumer displays. Philips has created this new gaming display line to give users a more immersive experience.
Evnia 8000 gaming display series by Philips promises users immersion and dynamic imagery with plenty of connectivity options for any user.
The Evnia QD OLED gaming monitor (model 34M2C8600/01) boasts precise color representations with the company’s Ambiglow technology to determine the gaming environment. The 3440 x 1440 WQHD display with 175 Hz refresh rates measures 34 inches (86.63 cm) and assures users will receive high contrast images, deep black representation, a wealth of viewing angles, and high peak brightness and vibrancy. The pixel density is 109.68 PPI with a 0.1 ms GtG (Gray to Gray) average response time.
The Evnia quantum-dot OLED screen reduces input lag time to improve the gaming preciseness the user needs, especially in games where speed and competitiveness prevail. The 1800R curvature display is meant to draw in the users, allowing for a minimum head turn. The Evnia 8000 series display by Philips is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
The certification allows users to see shadow details and deeper blacks more accurately than standard gaming displays on the market that offer the exact specifications. The Philips curved gaming display has several modes to optimize any situation, whether watching a movie, playing a game, looking at or editing photos, and more.
The Evnia curved gaming display produces true 10-bit colors, where color accuracy improves upon the standards set by the gaming display marketplace. Philips ensures that the monitor will “produce a more natural transition between hues for smoother gradients.” Increasing the screen ratio from 16:9 to 21:9 allows users to get more done with more workspace on the screen while maintaining a high-density pixel count and 178° comprehensive view of the screen.
DTS Sound enhances audio to incorporate an increased virtual sound production with an increased focus on dialogue, fuller bass levels, and max volume levels that will not distort the audio for the user. The display has an integrated KVM feature that allows users to see two separate sources on one screen without disconnecting wires and losing time needed for projects or while in the game.
Like other LEDs or RGBs connected to or integrated into the display, the Ambiglow technology creates a halo of light behind the monitor that adjusts color to adapt to whatever is on the screen. This makes a new level of immersion that allows the user to be more in-tune with the scene at any given time. The technology is perfect for watching movies, playing AAA video games, and more.
The monitor can tilt, swivel, and height adjustable to suit any user. Its high 99.3% color gamut increases the quality of green, red, and blue images — the foundation of all displays. Lastly, the Philips QD OLED display has several gaming modes to fit first-person shooters, racing titles, and real-time strategy games so that any user can benefit from Philips’s new gaming displays.
For connectivity, the Evnia QD OLED gaming monitor offers two HDMI 2.0 ports, a single DisplayPort 1.4 port, one USB-C 4.0 port that doubles for DP Alt mode and video/data/power delivery), and supports HDCP 1.4, 2.2, and 2.3 (depending on the connection). The integrated USB hub has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, one USB-B upstream port, and four USB-A downstream ports.
The Evnia 42-inch OLED gaming monitor (model 42M2N8900/01) offers similar features as its smaller and curved gaming display with some varying features. First, the display is flat, not curved, and not ultrawide like its 34-inch model. It offers UltraClear 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160 max screen resolution), producing accuracy and details that the company feels exceed most market displays. The aspect ratio is 16:9 with a DisplayPort overclock of 138 Hz.
The pixel density is at 106.06 PPI and has 450 nits of peak brightness. The contrast ratio is higher than the former model at 1,500,000:1 and a 98.5% DCI-P3 color gamut. Note: both displays have a minimum color gamut listed but can adjust depending on the display, whether it be NTSC, sRGB, and Adobe RGB. The display supports over 1.07 billion colors with its True 10-bit display. The Evnia 42-inch OLED display does have LowBlue mode to assist with the harmful effects of blue light on the user’s eyes and also has Adaptive Sync capability. Connections vary slightly on this model as the HDMI is 2.1 and not 2.0.
Currently, there is no pricing or availability date set by the company and no word as to whether this will ship globally or be only available in specific markets.
