Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced Tuesday that he intends to step down, and instead serve as the Executive Chair of the Amazon Board. In a letter addressed to Amazon employees, he wrote that Andy Jassy will take over in his former role.
“As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions,” wrote the soon-to-be-former CEO. “I’ve never had more energy, and this isn’t about retiring.”
According to the world’s second richest person, his “transition” in roles will begin in the third quarter of 2021. Read more…
