“We got along very well in the office, for sure,” Barr told Women’s Weekly. “But the truth is we didn’t really see each other outside the office. We had vastly different lives, I guess. We were in different places. She was hanging with her friends, and I was spending time with my family. So, yes, we were in different places.”Barr took over as Sunrise co-host in March after Armytage quit the show.RELATED: Sam Armytage reveals real reason why she left SunriseShe walked away from the morning show less than two weeks after saying in an interview that the TV industry was full of narcissists.Speaking to Stellar magazine, Armytage said: “There’s a lot about television that’s all about you and that’s an awful way to live your life. TV isn’t a place that’s necessarily very healthy.“It’s full of sociopaths and narcissists – it can be a dangerous environment, let me tell you,” she said with a grin. When asked how she felt about Armytage’s comments, Barr told Women’s Weekly: “I don’t think that the rest of us took much notice of that really. You know, everyone is entitled to their opinion and entitled to have their say. But in the past, I have talked about the people in our office being like my family and I am genuinely close to a lot of people there. For me, it’s a wonderful place to be.”When Armytage left, there were rumours that she had fallen out with some of her Sunrise colleagues including David Koch and executive producer, Michael Pell.In a recent interview with TV Blackbox, Pell confirmed that his relationship with Armytage had been damaged at some point.“I have known her for 20 years and she’s like a sister to me,” he said. “And like a brother and sister relationship, you have good times and bad times.“We have always been honest about that. There is a mutual respect. I think she is brilliant at what she does and I think she thinks I’m all right at what I do.”Pell said they drifted apart because they had very different lives.“I don’t think it was as much a falling out as we had our lives,” he said. “Her roots are more in the country now and she wasn’t around me.”But the pair managed to rebuild their relationship, with Pell telling TV Blackbox: “Towards the end of her time at Sunrise we got back to that place we were at the beginning. We sort of came full circle.”As for Barr, she is relishing her role in the big chair alongside Koch.“It’s such an amazing job and while I have only been in the seat for a couple of weeks, I have to admit that I love it,” told Women’s Weekly.“A lot of people said that ‘Oh, it should be a breeze, you’ve done it before.’ But that was only as a fill-in. So yes, I know what the job is but that’s not always the same as actually having the job. It comes with a lot of responsibility. It really helps that I get on with so many of the people around me, too.”Something To Talk About with Samantha Armytage – Playlist
