The glitz and glam of the Logie Awards returns tonight with the awards ceremony on the Gold Coast tonight.Popular Goggleboxers and podcast hosts Adam Densten and Symon Lovett, who have notched up hours and hours on their couch watching TV, have joined with National Entertainment Writer Lisa Woolford to examine the form of the popular nominees who will be decided by public vote. GOLD LOGIEHamish Blake (LEGO Masters Australia)Julia Morris (I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!)Karl Stefanovic (Today, 60 Minutes)Melissa Leong (MasterChef Australia, Celebrity MasterChef Australia)Ray Meagher (Home And Away)Sonia Kruger (Big Brother, Holey Moley, Dancing with The Stars: All Stars, The Voice, The Voice Generations)Tom Gleeson (Hard Quiz)LW: Melissa Leong would be only the second person of colour to take home TV’s highest honour, but it’s likely to be favourite Hamish Blake adding another gold to his trophy cabinet. Symon: Melissa Leong. If I had her vocabulary, I would have aced English in Year 12. If I had the fashion style of Melissa, it wouldn’t have taken so long to get my first kiss. SILVER LOGIE FOR MOST POPULAR ACTORBernard Curry (Wentworth)Guy Pearce (Jack Irish)Hugo Weaving (Love Me)Ray Meagher (Home And Away)Rodger Corser (Doctor Doctor)Stephen Peacocke (RFDS)LW: We’ve farewelled Wentworth, Jack Irish and Doctor Doctor in the last few years, which could curry favour for Bernard, Guy and Rodger. Hugo Weaving was outstanding in Love Me, but I predict we’ll hear “Stone the Flamin’ Crows” as Home And Away fans assemble behind Ray Meagher A&S: Ray Meagher. Long live Alf. The man will be using his Logies as door stops after he collects another one. SILVER LOGIE FOR MOST POPULAR ACTRESSAda Nicodemou (Home And Away)Anna Torv (The Newsreader)Bojana Novakovic (Love Me)Deborah Mailman (Total Control)Kitty Flanagan (Fisk)Sophie Dillman (Home And Away)LW: Kitty Flanagan was the (brown) bomb – she created, directed and starred in Fisk, But talk about being in total control – Deborah Mailman for the silver. A&S: Kitty Flanagan. Anyone who wears a brown suit on TV deserves a Logie. BERT NEWTON AWARD FOR MOST POPULAR PRESENTERCarrie Bickmore (The Project)Hamish Blake (LEGO Masters Australia)Leigh Sales (7:30)Melissa Leong (MasterChef Australia, Celebrity MasterChef Australia)Sonia Kruger (Big Brother, Holey Moley, Dancing with the Stars: All Stars, The Voice, The Voice Generations)Tom Gleeson (Hard Quiz)LW: If it was for most hours logged, Sonia Kruger would have it in the bag. But it’s probably HARD to go past Tom Gleeson for his combination of mean and mirth. A&S: Hamish Blake. Every 30-year-old Australian male has Hamish as their king. Maybe we should say Tom Gleeson in case he insults us though. GRAHAM KENNEDY AWARD FOR MOST POPULAR NEW TALENTAlessandra Rampolla (Married At First Sight)Carlos Sanson Jr (Bump)Matt Evans (Home And Away)Melanie Bracewell (The Cheap Seats)Tony Armstrong (News Breakfast)Will Lodder (Love Me)LW: Heart says Tony Armstrong because he’s wonderful; head says Matt Evans with all of Home And Away’s millions of dedicated viewers frantically voting for the young heart-throb. Adam: Tony Armstrong. I once beat Tony in a game of pool as a 16 year old so I should probably let him win this one. MOST POPULAR DRAMA PROGRAMDoctor Doctor, Home And Away (Seven Network)Love Me (BINGE and FOXTEL)RFDS (Seven Network)The Newsreader (ABC)Total Control (ABC)LW: The Newsreader dominated the AACTAs late last year, and may take out the outstanding category, but I’m tipping it will go to Home And Away. A&S: The Newsreader. We’ve watched so much news in the last two years that we now watch scripted dramas about news in our spare time. MOST POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMAnh’s Brush with Fame Gogglebox Australia Hard Quiz Lego Masters Australia The Masked Singer Australia The Voice Australia LW: While Gogglebox is a perennial favourite and I’d like to turn my chair for The Voice, Lego Masters will build on its ratings success. A&S: We would say Gogglebox, but that’d be a bit narcissistic and we know our mums will be voting for it anyway. So Lego Masters. MOST POPULAR PANEL OR CURRENT AFFAIRS PROGRAM7.30 Australian Story A Current Affair Four Corners The Front Bar The Project LW: ABC’s stable of current affairs is likely to dominate the outstanding section, but The Front Bar and The Project will have the popular vote. The Project in a close victory. A&S: All the other nominees are serious news shows so The Front Bar even being nominated is hilarious and deserves the nod MOST POPULAR COMEDY PROGRAMAftertaste Fisk Have You Been Paying Attention? Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell The Hundred with Andy Lee The Cheap Seats LW: Kitty Flanagan’s Fisk was the shot of joy we all very much needed. Give her all of the awards. A&S: The Hundred with Andy Lee. We went for a beer with Andy recently and he bought a round so this is us repaying the favour. MOST POPULAR REALITY PROGRAMThe Block: Fans Vs Faves Celebrity Apprentice Australia I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here Married At First Sight MasterChef Australia SAS Australia LW: MasterChef caused somewhat of a boilover last time, knocking the MAFS juggernaut off its altar. The recipe of spectacular food and feel-good moments can do it again. A&S: I’m a Celeb … maybe if we vote for it, the producers will have us back and we can redeem ourselves after being kicked out so early. MOST POPULAR LIFESTYLE PROGRAMBetter Homes and Gardens Bondi RescueGardening Australia Love It Or List It Australia The Living Room Travel GuidesLW: I’m going with The Living Room which has returned to its original format in the studio – it would be worth it to see the exuberant Miguel Maestre bound on to the stage again. A&S: Nothing like a bit of real estate porn and houses we’d never be able to afford – so Love it or List It. SILVER LOGIEMOST POPULAR AUSSIE IN AN INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMAngourie Rice (Mare of Easttown)Jacki Weaver (Yellowstone)Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus)Sarah Snook (Succession)Troye Sivan (Three Months)Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaids Tale)LW: Toss a coin. This is another chock-a-block with talent category, but it’s hard to go past Sarah Snook who might just Shivher opposition. Adam: Redheads have to look out for redheads so Sarah Snook. Plus Succession is the single greatest show on TV at the moment now that Ozark and GoT are finished. The 62nd Logie Awards, Sunday, from 7pm, Nine and 9 NowHow Logie Voting works In new voting rules this year, the public still have the ultimate say on who takes home the popular Logie Awards, but less of an opportunity to nominate contenders than in the past. Previously, viewers would select from a lengthy list of contenders. This time, all TV networks were invited to submit candidates for each of the 13 Most Popular Awards including the Gold Logie. A combination of TV ratings, Nielsen social content ratings and the views of TV Week’s panel of experts were weighed to determine the final six nominees in all categories, and seven for the TV Week Gold Logie. The public can vote for their favourites until the end of the Red Carpet coverage on Sunday night via tvweeklogiesvote.com.
