Hey Hey returns for two more specials

OSTN Staff

Channel 7 will air the specials over two nights, with The Best of The Best and Worst of Red Faces screening next Sunday, July 17, at 7pm followed by The Very Best of the Best and Worst of Red Faces which will roll out on Monday, July 18 at 7.30pm.These shows win the prize hands down for the most unnecessarily convoluted titles.Anyway, they are sure to pull a decent set of eyeballs as they play perfectly to the nostalgia crowd who will be happy to curl up on the couch in the middle of winter and remember the simpler era of Red Faces and Hey Hey.Host and Hey Hey creator Daryl Somers said the specials would appeal to everyone.“It’s extraordinary the lengths people would go to just to be on the show. Age was no barrier, nor lack of talent, the more bizarre the better,” Somers wrote on Facebook.“There’s something for everyone in these two light hearted specials celebrating one of the best traits of the Australian character, humour … with a large dose of self deprecation thrown in for good measure.”Seven had great success with the Hey Hey special it aired to mark the show’s 50th anniversary in October 2021 and then had another ratings success with a follow up offering in April this year.If the Red Faces specials rate, then no doubt the Hey Hey archives will be opened up again.
