Mr Perrottet appeared on Nova 96.9’s popular breakfast show Fitzy and Wippa on Monday and was reminded of something he mentioned during his last appearance. Last time he appeared on the show he was asked what his ultimate karaoke song was, with the Premier replying that he “would have to do” Livin’ on a Prayer “at some stage”. While Mr Perrottet tried to argue that he never specified when he was going to sing, the wheels were already in motion for him to man the mike. “That’s what I like about you, you’re prepared to have a crack,” co-host Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald said.“We’ll see how we go,” Mr Perrottet laughed in response. “I don’t know why I said that (Livin’ on a Prayer), I should have gone with something a bit easier.”But when the famous song started playing Mr Perrottet jumped in with instant passion and a clear focus on his face as he belted out the iconic lyrics.His voice started to strain though when he hit the chorus.Mr Perrottet’s enthusiasm did not subside as he stretched out his arms while rocking out to the music, but he struggled to hit Bon Jovi’s notorious high notes. “Come on, that’s pretty good for this time of the day,” Mr Perrottet joked, before admitting “that wasn’t great”.But his rendition earnt instant praise from Michael “Wippa” Wipfli, who described it as “magical”.“That was magical … that is a hard song to sing. That high note, mate, you killed it,” he proclaimed.But Fitzgerald was not as kind with his feedback. “Bon Jovi, he is freaking out at the moment, you have murdered his song,” he said.Reactions were also mixed from the audience, with some praising Mr Perrottet’s singing skills and his good spirit for having a go. “I love his sporting spirit,” one said.“Just earned my vote lol,” said another.“Top effort right there, that’s up there with downing a schooey at the cricket,” said someone comparing his signing to former Australian prime minister Bob Hawke’s sculling skills.But others gave harsher reviews of the Premier’s work.“This will be used in an election campaign against him one day,” a commenter said.“He’ll be living on a prayer next election,” another predicted. Mr Perrottet joined a distinguished group of politicians who have sung on the show after his predecessor Gladys Berejiklian sang Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran and former federal Labor leader Bill Shorten rapped along to 50 Cent’s in Da Club.
