If you’ve always wanted to sit front row at a fashion show, you’re in luck because Carine Roitfeld is bringing her second-ever CR Runway show to life in a digital format this week.
Teaming up with YouTube’s Derek Blasberg, Roitfeld has enlisted a rather impressive list of some of fashion’s biggest names to participate in the event. The aim of the event, called Fashion Unites, is to “raise awareness for research efforts led by the amFAR Fund to fight COVID-19.”
Some of the big name faces confirmed to appear during the 30-minute long event are Karlie Kloss, Kim Kardashian West, Ashley Graham, Winnie Harlow, Stella Maxwell, Irina Shayk, Hailey Bieber, Virgil Abloh, Diane von Furstenberg, Alexander Wang, Donatella Versace, Marc Jacobs, Amber Valleta, Halima Aden, Adriana Lima, Anok Yai, Natasha Poly, Candice Huffine, Heron Preston and Alessandra Ambrosio. According to WWD, there is also a musical performance scheduled though the name has not yet been revealed.
The self-filmed video entries will feature looks pulled from the models’ own personal wardrobes that have been styled remotely by Roitfeld and her team. Those who aren’t modelling will share words of hope. Both portions are designed to create “a moment of creative inspiration and uplifting entertainment” according to a release.
In a statement, Roitfeld said, “In times of great uncertainty, our support for one another is more important than ever. Embracing fashion as the creative expression through which to support the health and safety of our global communities, we hope this show can offer a small moment of hope, inspiration, and uplifting connection for those who are doing their part to self-isolate. A modest contribution as our world unites to collectively weather the storm of this pandemic together.”
The virtual CR Runway show will take place at 4pm ET on Friday May 1 exclusively on YouTube.
