For five months of 2020, directors Alex Gibney, Ophelia Harutyunyan, and Suzanne Hillinger made a film in secret. They interviewed scientists, medical professionals, and government officials to create a comprehensive view of the White House’s responses to coronavirus and the result is Totally Under Control, out later this month.
The trailer, edited like a horror movie — and depending on who you ask, that might be the appropriate mirror for our current reality — shows clips of Donald Trump downplaying the virus in press conferences while interview subjects analyze his response and misinformation (at one point calling it “total bullshit”).
