The candidates

Spanberger, a former operations officer for the Central Intelligence Agency and an agent with the United States Postal Service Inspection Service, was later appointed to the Virginia Governor’s Fair Housing Board where she assisted the state in ensuring affordable housing for its citizens.

In previous elections, Freitas has campaigned against Obama-era programs such as the Affordable Care Act, which The Virginian Pilot reported Freitas describing as a “cancer.”
