The original MasterChef maestros Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Megihan had regrouped for a special project – an early Christmas lunch. The trio who have not been seen together since the end of their hosting duties on Channel 10’s MasterChef in July 2019.While they have always remained friends and in touch privately, they have not been seen together in public until now.The three broke bread over lunch at Tedesca in Red Hill.“What a fabulous lunch at @graceburn_tedesca with the boys … so nice to catch up, laugh, eat, drink and remind ourselves why we all get along so bloody well,” Mehigan wrote on Instagram. Calombaris said recently he would not rule out the trio working together again in the future.“We achieved so much (on MasterChef) and we brought so much joy into people’s homes and we are grateful,” he said.“So if there is an opportunity for the three of us to do something together again; I never say never.”While their friendship remains strong, the trio recently deregistered the company GaryGeorge & Matt Pty Ltd.It was set up in February 2019 as the trio were negotiating new deals with Channel 10 where they had hosted MasterChef Australia for 11 years. Following their departure from 10 it remained unused and was simply wrapped up.Post MasterChef Preston and Mehigan quickly signed with Channel 7 to front what ended up being a rather rushed and unsatisfactory season of the cooking show, Plate of Origin, while Calombaris stepped back from media to deal with business concerns surrounding the collapse of his MADE Establishment empire. With the trio focused on different projects the company was deregistered in September.Calombaris has been busy building his 5PM Cook Along With George cooking venture which launched mid-year and spending time with his family.
