Virus surge due to increased mixing over Christmas period, WHO says

The World Health Organisation said the ‘almost vertical’ increase in worldwide COVID-19 infections was due more to increased mixing of people during the Christmas period, rather than the more transmissable COVID-19 variants found in South Africa and the UK.
