I Can’t Stop Wearing Everyday Dresses—Here Are My Top 7 Picks

OSTN Staff

I love fanciful layering and baggy jeans outfits just as much as the next person, but there’s something to be said about the ease of an everyday dress. Effortless and versatile, with high impact style, it’s my go-to wardrobe solution when I can’t be bothered to think long and hard about my outfit, and when time is of the essence. The beauty of the everyday dress is that it toes the line between elevated and casual; with the switch of a shoe or necklace, it can carry you from running weekend errands to Sunday brunch. When warmer weather rolls around I buy them in almost every color and pattern: black for low-key days and exuberant prints for when I’m feeling flashy. The trick is to go for looser-fitting silhouettes with just enough dramatic detail that basically does the “styling” for you. Think ruffled hemlines, big sleeves, and exaggerated shapes. From there, add a few trendy accessories like bold metal earrings, a baguette bag, or strappy sandals and you have yourself a bonafide lewk. There’s a lot of styles on my personal shopping list, so scroll below to see them all. A bonus: they’re all also under $50.

Not too over the top yet not too subtle, these ruffles are just enough to make this dress feel elevated. I already have plans to buy this in green.

If you’re feeling fancy, the layering potential of this dress knows no bounds.

Take a styling cue from our Editor in chief Kat Collings, and add a belt for an edgier take. Add a pair of classic white sneakers to keep it low-key.

The acid wash is a favorite.

While the 60s trend continues to rage on, I’ve already set my sights on this a-line mini dress. Leather over-the-knee boots will set a nice contrast against the sweet floral print.

This color feels so right for spring.

Here’s the fashion girl way to do gingham; the belted silhouette and ruffled hem feel more fashion-forward than the typical preppy gingham dress. Extra points for the $5 matching mask.

Here’s a dress I plan on wearing with my ever-growing collection of heeled boots.
