“Obviously it’s not the circumstances I would have liked to be taking on this role and it’s happening a long time before I would have liked,” Gudinski told News Corp.“But I’ve been groomed for a long time to do this, I’ve just got to make Dad proud now, keep the legacy growing.”Gudinski is back working in the Mushroom offices in Albert Park, with the company busy with planning tours and album releases including new music from Jimmy Barnes, Garbage and Vika and Linda.“We’ve been at 9 Dundas Lane for almost 40 years,” Gudinski said. “Obviously Dad’s fingerprints and vibe and feeling are all over this building, so it’s comforting in a way to be here.”Gudinski, who spoke at his father’s State Memorial with sister Kate, most recently held the role of Executive Director, Mushroom Group from 2013. After joining the company in 2003 at age 17, a decade later Matt was named as Michael’s successor in a public relaunch of Mushroom Group. The CEO role means overseeing all of Mushroom Group’s interests, from touring to music publishing, to merchandise to record labels to film and TV content production.“It’s something Dad and I had worked hand-in-hand on over the last eight years, we both had our different parts of the group we focussed on. Now I’ve just got to navigate through that moving forward as one. “I’m extremely proud to be able to keep his legacy moving forward, continue the group with the values he’s instilled in myself, the company and everyone’s who’s part of it and everyone he’s influenced in whatever way that might be in the industry.”NAT – Stay Informed – Social Media
