More than 800 people were supposed to attend a “no-fuss” funeral for Prince Philip.
But strict COVID-19 restrictions only allow 30 people at a funeral in the UK, and the royal family is no exception.
Funeral officials and pallbearers aren’t included in the 30-person limit, but Queen Elizabeth has had final approval over the 30 guests who will sit inside St George’s Chapel on Sunday morning AEST.
Here’s who made the list, and who didn’t.
Prince Philip’s closest family are first on the list
That means Queen Elizabeth is first and foremost.
Up next are Philip’s children and their spouses.
That’ll be Prince Charles and Camilla, Princess Anne and her husband Timothy Laurence, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Prince Andrew.
Philip’s grandchildren and their spouses have also been invited.
That will include Prince William and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, as well as the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.
Also in attendance will be the Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew, and their respective husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank. Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips, and her daughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike will also attend. The children of Prince Edward, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn close out the grandchildren.
And with that, the list is two-thirds full.
Final places go to cousins, German royals
The final 10 who will take to the pews will be blood relatives of the Windsors and the Mountbattens.
This includes the Queen’s nephew and niece, David Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon and Lady Sarah Chatto, children of the late Princess Margaret. Lady Chatto’s husband, Daniel Chatto, will be joining her.
The cousins of the Queen in attendance include the Duke of Gloucester; Princess Alexandra (also a cousin of Prince Philip once removed); and the Duke of Kent (also a first cousin of Prince Philip).
Prince Philip’s grand-nephews – Bernhard, Hereditary Prince of Baden; Prince Donatus, Landgrave of Hesse; and Prince Philipp of Hohenlohe-Langenburg – will be representing the German Mountbatten contingent.
Britain’s second Countess Mountbatten of Burma – granddaughter of Prince Philip’s cherished uncle Louis Mountbatten – takes the final place.
There are notable omissions
A guest list of 800 doesn’t reduce to 30 easily, of course.
One cousin who didn’t make the cut was Prince Michael of Kent, a cousin of both Prince Philip and the Queen, who also served as a page boy to the royal couple at their wedding.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, will not be in attendance. Meghan is pregnant with her second child and has been advised by her doctor not to travel.
There won’t be any great-grandchildren either. That includes Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, Savannah and Isla Phillips, Mia, Lena and Lucas Tindall, August Brooksbank and Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
All are aged under 10 and considered too young to attend given the restrictions.
Also missing will be UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Mr Johnson said in light of the COVID-19 restrictions, he wouldn’t attend, to allow “as many family members as possible” to go instead.
There was one spot expected to go to a non-family member: Brigadier Archie Miller-Bakewell. The Brigadier was the duke’s private secretary from 2011, and the pair were reportedly extremely close.
It was also expected that the former King Constantine II of Greece – Philip’s first cousin once removed – would have been in attendance, but his own health issues mean he also can’t travel.
Representatives of organisations that Prince Philip was associated with also won’t be able to attend.
