The 31-year-old Georgian national was found by the Victoria Police air wing clinging to a navigational marker about 5km from the dock at 7.50pm on Sunday night.Police said it’s believed the man jumped from an international oil tanker docked in Melbourne.A police spokeswoman said water police officers pulled the man from the bay and took him to Williamstown where he was medically assessed.“The man was taken to hospital accompanied by Australian Border Force officials who were assisting (the department of health),” she said.“It is expected the man will be transferred to mandatory quarantine once released from hospital.”The police officers who were in contact with the man have since isolated as a precaution.jack.paynter@news.com.au
