CQV’s director of Infection Prevention and Control, Giulietta Pontivivo, has taken leave, The Australian reported on Monday.It comes after her colleague, IPC general manager Matiu Bush, was stood down following revelations the pair had been counselled over an infection prevention and control breach.A CQV spokesperson said the hotel quarantine program’s IPC director and IPC general manager roles were currently being filled through acting arrangements “due to staff leave”.The spokesperson said the people acting in the roles were “highly qualified clinicians bringing extensive experience and expertise”.“Every staff member is fully trained and responsible for upholding our strict IPC standards and we have clear expectations that any breaches must be reported so they can be acted on,” the spokesperson said.The Australian revealed Mr Bush had been reported to authorities twice after refusing a defence force request for a mandatory COVID-19 test on April 20 and breaching infection control protocols on March 1.According to an operational incident review, Mr Bush, Ms Pontivivo and another staffer “refused” to sign in via a QR code at the Pullman hotel “stating that as they have been vaccinated they are not required to do so and instead manually signed in the visitor log”.And the same day Mr Bush and either Ms Pontivivo or the other staffer entered the Mercure Hotel “without sanitising and also did not change masks”.Read full story here.
