She told Good Morning Britain: “When you think of policing, you think of the most violent crimes but we’re out there to help the most vulnerable. “At this particular time there’s a lot of incidents on the bridges and I did help someone who was very desperate on the bridge the other night. It can be rewarding in so many ways.” She continued, “I had the right training and I think from the life experiences I’ve had, that’s probably why I feel I belong in the police at the moment. I’ve been there and done it, having children of my own. I felt I was prepared for that moment but of course you never know until you’re there.”Lancaster acknowledged that joining the City of London police force also comes with its potential risks, “It is dangerous, but the police the public, the public are the police. There’s women and men alike – brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, we’re just regular people but we put that uniform on to help protect.”Lancaster, 50, married Stewart, 76, in 2007 after nearly eight years of dating. The pair share two sons – Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10. In an interview with The Mail on Sunday in December, Lancaster explained why she decided to join the police.“This is who I am. I could be walking the red carpet with Rod, or I could be in our stable with my goats,” she said. “But there comes a time when everyone questions themselves and asks, ‘Who am I? Who am I at my core?’ This is what I feel I should always have been doing. It’s about identity.”
