Like last year, we don’t expect to see any discounts on the still-scarce Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. During the duration of Amazon Prime Day, Nintendo is dropping the price on several digital games through its eShop during its Digital Deals event.
PC gamers can look forward to deep discounts on monitors, mice, mechanical, and keyboards. However, don’t expect to find any graphics cards on sale – those, too, are also in short supply.

Frequently asked questions
When is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
Amazon’s annual Prime Day event kicks off tomorrow at midnight PDT on June 21. The shopping event finishes up the following day on June 22. But don’t worry if you can’t shop during that time – we expect to see several discounts last a few days after the end of Amazon Prime Day.
Early Amazon Prime Day 2021 deals
You don’t need to wait until June 21 to get deals. Amazon has launched a series of early Amazon Prime Day 2021 deals, and we’ve collected the best ones here.
- Audible Premium Plus: Prime subscribers can get Audible Premium Plus for $6.95 a month for four months – a $32 savings. Those who take advantage of this deal will also get an audiobook of their choice each month – including best sellers and new releases. After four months, Audible Premium Plus is $14.95 a month.
- Amazon Music Unlimited: Prime members who haven’t tried Amazon Music Unlimited can get four months free. Amazon Music Unlimited grants members access to more than 70 million songs ad-free and millions of podcast episodes.
- Wondery+: Prime members can get four months of ad-free listening on Wondery+ for free. For those unfamiliar, Wondery+ is Amazon’s “immersive podcast listening experience” with originals like “Dr. Death,” “Even the Rich,” and “Business Wars.”
Just like last year, Amazon is also offering several avenues for shoppers to collect credits ahead of Amazon Prime Day 2021.
- Get a $10 credit to use on Amazon Prime Day when you spend $10 on items sold by small businesses through June 20.
- Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card or Amazon Prime Store Card cardholders (with an eligible Prime membership) can also earn 10% cash back on small business purchases during the duration of the ‘Spend $10, get $10’ promotion.
Unfortunately, shoppers: the free $10 gift card promotion has ended.
What is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
Introduced in 2015 in part to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary, the first Amazon Prime Day was a one-day-only retail holiday for Prime members that sought to overtake Black Friday as the sales event of the year.
During Amazon Prime Day 2021, we expect prices to drop to all-time lows, often beating out prices we see over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The sale covers every product category Amazon offers: tech, beauty, home, kitchen, fashion, and smart home.
Amazon Prime Day 2021 deals to expect
Amazon Prime Day drops some most exceptional deals we see all year, and we can predict what brands and product categories will see deep discounts based on Prime Days past.
Most of Amazon’s wares and services will see significant drops during Amazon Prime Day 2021. Shoppers can expect some of the best discounts on stuff like Kindles, Echo smart speakers, Fire TV streaming devices, Eero routers, and, of course, their services, including Kindle Unlimited, Audible, and Music Unlimited.
Additionally, we expect to see tons of discounts on electronics, home goods, and gaming devices. Instant Pots, LifeStraw water filters, and robot vacuums were some of the most purchased products during last year’s Amazon Prime Day. That’s to say nothing about all of the competing sales that are likely to pop up during the sale event, from retailers like Target, Best Buy, and Walmart.
How to prepare for Amazon Prime Day 2021
If you want to shop deals on Amazon Prime Day 2021, you’ll want to start by becoming an Amazon Prime subscriber. You can pick up a monthly subscription for $13, but we think it’s wiser to pay the $119 annual subscription.
For first-time subscribers, there’s a 30-day free trial to take advantage of. While the upfront subscription cost may give you pause, we think that the benefits of an Amazon Prime subscription are worth the fees year-round.
Secondly, you’ll want to download the Amazon app. It’s handy for Prime Day, to receive alerts for when deals are activated.
How to find the best Amazon Prime Day 2021 deals
Ahead of Amazon Prime Day 2021, you should bookmark the Amazon Deals Page. This is where Amazon will host all of its deals, alongside its limited-time Lightning deals.
In previous years, Amazon Prime Day deals have been time- and stock-sensitive. We’ve seen the best ones sell out quickly, restocked later in the day or on the second day. Some discounts will last through both days of the sales event, but others are exclusive to the first or second days.
While Amazon is the main destination for Amazon Prime Day deals, we know several retailers, including Target, Kohl’s, and Walmart, will be offering competing sales, with matching prices or additional bonuses.
Are Amazon Prime Day deals worth it?
For the most part, yes. Like Black Friday and Cyber Monday later this year, Amazon Prime Day often brings many terrific bargains on tech, home goods, smart home products, and outdoor gear.
Many of the deals we’ve seen match the best prices offered throughout the year. However, not all of the discounts will be worth your time. Before you buy, make sure to compare the prices with historical data with CamelCamelCamel and Amazon’s competition. Of course, we’ll evaluate all of the offers for you during Amazon Prime Day 2021.
How can I save more during Amazon Prime Day 2021?
There are several avenues to save during Amazon Prime Day 2021.
First, you can take advantage of the early offers made available by Amazon, such as buying from small businesses.
Second, Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card or Amazon Prime Store Card cardholders can also earn 10% cash back on small business purchases during the duration of the ‘Spend $10, get $10’ promotion.
Amazon will likely offer increased cash back rewards on select items, so make sure to make your Amazon Prime Rewards card your default payment method.

Who can access Amazon Prime Day deals
Only Amazon Prime members can take advantage of this event. Signing up is easy, though, and a membership comes with many more benefits than just Prime Day deals access and free two-day shipping. New members can sign up for a free 30-day trial with full benefits before committing.
Last year, Prime members in the following countries participated in the event: the US, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Netherlands, Mexico, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, and Australia.
Where to find alternative sales during Amazon Prime Day 2021
Amazon Prime Day started as, unsurprisingly, an Amazon-centric sale event. Of course, that didn’t stop other retailers from offering their own competing sales.
In the past few years, retailers offering competing sales included Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Bed Bath & Beyond. This year should be no different. While we don’t expect any retailer to match the breadth of Amazon Prime Day offerings, we found that the retailers generally match some of the “doorbuster” sales on stuff like iPads and TVs, and there are some better offers, as well.
Walmart’s “Big Save Event” is live now, a day before Amazon Prime Day 2021, and lasts until June 23.
Target’s “Deal Days” event also live now and ends June 22. From what we saw last year, we can expect comparable discounts and matched prices. Whether you’re shopping for the latest tech or want to save on essentials, you can find bargains during Target’s Deal Days.
Best Buy’s “Bigger Deal Savings Event” is already underway until June 22 and includes up to $250 off select gaming laptops, up to 50% off small kitchen appliances, and up to $400 off select Samsung Galaxy phones. However, we expect even more deals in the coming days.
Kohl’s Wow Deals event will be held in-stores and online for the duration of Amazon Prime Day: June 21 through 22. Shoppers will earn $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent during the two-day event, and Kohl’s Card members will get an additional 15% off on Wow Deals sales and promotions.
Bed Bath & Beyond’s ‘Beyond Big Savings Event’ runs from June 20 to June 22. You can now save up to 50% on everything. For extra savings, get a one-year Beyond+ membership for $29 and enjoy 20% off and free standard shipping on all orders.
Which is better for deals: Amazon Prime Day or Black Friday?
It depends on what you’re shopping for.
Amazon Prime Day is, first and foremost, an Amazon event. This means Amazon Prime Day offers the best deals on Amazon products. So, expect to see deals on Amazon Echo smart speakers, Fire TVs and streaming devices, Kindle e-readers, Audible, and Amazon Music Unlimited subscriptions.
Black Friday, on the other hand, doesn’t “belong” to any particular store. This means that shoppers can expect sales and savings from more retailers, outside of those few that compete with Amazon during Prime Day.
Additionally, Prime Day is better for scoring deals on products selling for under $100 and products you’ll buy more than once per year, like clothing, food, and beauty products, while Black Friday is for once-a-year and rarer purchases like TVs, gaming consoles, and laptops.
