The Melbourne-based couple, who were at the centre of the show’s drama which has led to an official investigation, are legitimately engaged and also expecting twins in December.“It’s all happened very fast,” Bryce told New Idea.“It’s been a whirlwind, but we’re so incredibly happy,” added Melissa.Melissa said she burst into tears at the ultrasound when the nurse delivered the news.“Bryce had to wait elsewhere due to Covid, so I was alone during the first ultrasound and she just came straight out with it — no warning,” she said. “I couldn’t stop crying, it was very emotional. I think I said ‘holy shit’ seven times.”They said getting married for real felt like the logical next step. The radio announcer proposed during a helicopter tour across Mebourne and they picked out a black diamond ring together.Aware their relationship has been the subject of heavy criticism, they insist they are happy and deeply in love.Bryce was accused of gaslighting Melissa after she was left in tears during much of the show. Thousands of signatures were gathered on a change.org petition calling for Channel 9 to apologise for ‘failing in its duty of care’ towards Melissa. The Australian Communications and Media Authority said last month it is proceeding with an investigation into MAFS following a flurry of viewer complaints. In April at least 54 complaints were received by the authority. Nine defended the program.“We’re not doing this for anybody else, it’s about us — we’re cementing our love,” Bryce said. “Melissa deserves to be happy and I’m apparently very good at that, so I’m looking forward to making it all official.”Melissa added: “We’d already been married on the show and, with our relationship getting stronger, this just felt like the logical next step.“I’ll have two babies by the time I walk down the aisle.”The couple, both 32, say they are planning a low ley wedding with Bryce indicating he would invite some fellow grooms Jason Engler, Cameron Dunne, Russell Duance and James Susler.“This is all such a blessing to be able to bring two children into the world together … we’re on cloud nine,’’ Bryce said.
