St Bernadette’s Primary Castle Hill was slammed shut after a person who attended the after hours service provided by the school tested positive for Covid-19.The school’s wider community has been informed as contact tracers scramble to track down the origin of the infection and chains of transmission.The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta posted a statement on its Facebook page.“St Bernadette’s Primary Castle Hill will be closed tomorrow (Monday 2 August) following the news that a person who attended the Catholic Out-of-School Hours Care service at the school has tested positive for COVID-19. Families at the school have been contacted with further information,” the post read.“As always, the health and safety of the school community are our priority. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation as we continue to work together to respond to COVID-19.”The NSW Department of Education also confirmed that Strathfield South Public School was shut down on Sunday after “a member of the school community” tested positive for coronavirus.“The NSW Department of Education has been advised by NSW Health that a member of the school community has tested positive for COVID-19,” a statement on the school’s website read.“Our school will be non-operational effective immediately for the on-site attendance of staff and visitors to allow time for contact tracing and cleaning.“All staff and students are asked to self-isolate until you receive further advice.”Year 12 students return to schools in Greater Sydney on Monday, August 16 after a mass vaccination program for students in western and southwest Sydney. All other students will continue to learn from home for the remainder of the lockdown, which has been extended to August 28.
