Sydney areas with the lowest vaccination rate

As Sydney enters its sixth week in lockdown, federal data based on Medicare addresses shows the top areas in Sydney for vaccination include North Sydney Hornsby with a rate of 26.9 per cent, Baulkham Hills, 25.5 per cent and the Eastern Suburbs with a fully vaccinated rate of 23.9 per cent. The Northern Beaches which were locked down over Christmas has a rate of 20.9 per cent.NSW Vaccine LocatorSouth West Sydney, the current epicentre of the current outbreak sits at just 14.6 per cent fully vaccinated, the lowest in Greater Sydney. The Inner South West sits at 16.1 per cent and Outer South West at 17.8 per cent.Only the Far West and the Hunter Valley Newcastle areas are lower at 13.4 per cent and 14.1 per cent fully vaccinated respectively.University of New South Wales epidemiologist Professor Mary-Louise McLaws said the data was a timely reminder of where resources had to be directed.“It’s not fair, it’s just not fair and it shows ands under service of greater Sydney which is where our greatest population density ism” Prof McLaws said.“It is a very timely illustration of how and where we are not servicing those in greatest need. This gives us an indication of where we have to quickly go to the people with the vaccine and one of the best ways is with large employer groups, construction groups, transport and delivery groups,” Prof McLaws said.
