Two (sadly) former cast members from the Foxtel franchise – which will finally return to screens later this year – are trading bitter blows online over a bizarrely photoshopped Instagram post that depicts one of them in an unflattering light. The drama started earlier this week when former RHOM star Lydia Schiavello posted a throwback photo of herself and several other cast members to her Instagram account. From left to right, there’s Lydia, Chyka Keebaugh, Pettifleur Berenger and Janet Roach:RELATED: Real Housewives of Melbourne’s season five cast revealedEven the most casual fans of the show would realise something very strange is happening in that photo. Chyka’s body appears crudely widened, while Lydia and Pettifleur, stood on either side, have their waists sharply pinched in. As fans questioned the obvious, shoddy Photoshop job, Lydia insisted the photo was the real deal: “It’s an old photo Season 2 no Photoshop, I wouldn’t do that after being fatshamed myself x,” she wrote in response.Huh. The post stayed up for a few days – Chyka making like she did on RHOM and maintaining a dignified silence – until Chyka’s adult daughter Chessie Keebaugh returned fire with a furious Instagram post of her own. Chessie even dug up the original photo, proving the version Lydia posted was indeed “the worst editing job” she’d ever seen. She labelled Lydia’s post “truly pathetic” in a lengthy rant posted to her Instagram stories:From there, Lydia slid into Chessie’s DMs – to send a laughing emoji. Chessie shared their exchange with her followers: Then Chyka herself waded in, telling her followers that her daughter had “said it perfectly … what is the point in pulling another woman down”.Overnight – more than two days after it was posted – Lydia backtracked, deleting the original post and publicly telling Chyka she had simply been sent the photo and thought it “was a great photo of us all”.“It was never my attention to offend anyone,” she insisted. Honestly, this is my favourite Real Housewives of Melbourne online drama since the Great Twitter Autofollow Disaster of 2016, when Lydia and castmate Gina Liano both briefly signed up for a Twitter service that auto-tweeted a public thank you to each new follower, with … interesting results:Neither Chyka nor Lydia will appear as main cast members in the upcoming fifth season of Real Housewives of Melbourne, with returning housewives Janet Roach, Jackie Gillies and Gamble Breaux to be joined by three new cast members.
