Chief health officer Jeannette Young said one of Friday’s new infections was linked to the Japanese language class at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School while the others were connected to Ironside State School and Brisbane Grammar School.Thousands of Queenslanders are in isolation but a large number of those connected to the school outbreak will begin to be released as the 14-day period since the beginning of the cluster ticks over.“The most important news is that those families are all gradually coming out of quarantine,” Dr Young told reporters on Friday morning.“And I just want to thank them. By the work they’ve done, they have actually saved lives. I can’t say how many lives, but there is no doubt in my mind they have saved lives by what they’ve done.”The state’s Delta cluster which has soared to 137 total infections has largely been contained but the top doctor delivered a blunt warning as Canberra joined parts of NSW and Melbourne in lockdown.“We are going to get more outbreaks in Queensland,” Dr Young said.“I can’t say if they’ll come out of NSW, if they’ll come out of our international borders, or if they’ll come from the cases they’ve clearly got in the ACT. “They could come from anywhere.“We will see more cases in our community so we need to be prepared for that.”Ahead of national cabinet on Friday, Annastacia Palaszczuk said she will demand answers from her NSW counterpart as fears of the outbreak “creeping” north escalate. The Queensland Premier previously indicated she would “stop everyone” entering from the state’s southern neighbour if the outbreak worsened — meaning no exemptions for any reason. On Friday, she said NSW needed a clear plan for “containment” and that she wanted to hear it at national cabinet later today.“It’s encroaching into regional NSW, it’s encroaching north and south and is now in the ACT,” Ms Palaszczuk said.“It’s a serious concern for the rest of the nation.”
