Kyrgios, the older sister of tennis champion Nick, smashed her rendition of the Tina Arena classic Chains to turn all four chairs.“I feel like I haven’t heard a voice like that for a long time … you as a singer are so brilliant, as your brother is as an athlete,” said coach Guy Sebastian. His pitch including a mention of her champion bro may or may not have had something to do with Kyrgios choosing to join Rita Ora’s team.Seven’s relentless promotion of the magic moment Mower Man Mick Harrington delivered an onstage proposal to his partner Bec after singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow also brought in the viewers, with 1.2 million tuning in on Sunday in the capital cities. The show had more than 1.8 million fans nationally. The Block had 758,000 metro viewers and Survivor attracted 664,000 capital city fans for the merging of the tribes episode. The Voice has proven to be a lucrative buy for Seven. The reality series was on its last legs at Nine because of the convoluted tweaks to the format and the confected drama between the coaches.Seven has halved the budget and tightened the format – and kept the coaches naughty and nice rather than nasty – and its paid off with a 50 per cent boost in the timeslot audience compared to last year. The show’s promo power for the coaches remains undiminished. Keith Urban’s old hit Stupid Boy was back in the download charts after the Sunday show courtesy of a consolation prize performance.Nice guy Urban slung on a guitar and got on stage to perform his 2006 song with audition hopeful Tori Drake after she bombed with a pop song and confessed she was more of a country singer. That moment propelled not one but two best-of Urban compilations – The Story So Far and Greatest Hits – into the top 3 on the iTunes charts. The Voice is also hanging onto the streaming audience who signed up to 7Play during the Olympics and was the No. 1 live-streamed show on Sunday. That younger audience is also checking out the individual performances after the primetime broadcasts, with the opening night jaw-dropping audition of Sydney gospel singer Bella Taylor Smith with Beyonce’s Ave Maria generating a massive 574,000 YouTube views in a week.
