The reality TV star and self-described “plant-based Superman” was his usual energetic self during the two-minute chat, speaking about himself in the third person and repeatedly ignoring questions about his time on the show to promote his fledgling fitness business.“The plant-based Superman is a lunatic, as you would’ve figured out by now. He can just do whatever he wants! There’s no rules when you’re a Superman, right?” said Emmett, to polite laughter from the hosts.“You said you wanted to be known as the ‘greatest plant-based Superman challenge beast’ – what does that mean, and is there anyone else in that category who’d be competition?” asked host Waleed Aly.“By your intrigue, my friend, it sounds like you’re pretty keen to take on this 28-day Superman challenge that I’ve just created …” said Emmett, to which Aly quipped his guest was a certainly a “super plugger.”“Well, what’s the point of being on here if you can’t promote your amazing business, right?” asked Emmett.“Do you know what? That is the most honest answer from any reality TV contestant we’ve had on the show,” said Aly.“There you go, mate: You can take the piss, I can take the piss, we can all take the piss and make some great TV,” Emmett said, before the laughing hosts wrapped up the brief chat.“Fairly orthodox,” Aly mused after Emmett was off screen.“Yeah … how did he get voted out?” Helliar asked sarcastically, keeping a poker face as the dig got a big laugh from those in the studio. One viewer dubbed the interview a “trainwreck” on social media, while another chimed in to say the reality star “needs to dial it back a lot”.Emmett’s post-Survivor media tour yesterday was certainly interesting – earlier in the day, he spoke to news.com.au and we couldn’t resist a few questions about his yellow lycra shorts, perhaps the most-hated item of clothing in Australian Survivor history. Episode after episode, viewers took to social media to complain about the increasingly dirty skin-tight shorts he’d wear to compete in challenges. Despite the visceral reaction from viewers, he said he loved the shorts and was still wearing them post-Survivor. “That’s pretty much my Superman outfit, brother. Once the shorts go on, I mean business and I’m ready to smash it. They helped me activate my plant-based Superman identity,” he told us.
