Horrific private fallout of Block scandal

Melbourne couple Tanya and Vito have been under intense scrutiny since the photo scandal exploded last week on The Block, with the revelation that contestants Josh and Luke had seen a photo of a top-secret production schedule, giving them an unfair advantage and allowing them to plan their house ahead.Later, Tanya admitted her role in the scandal, confessing she had been the one to send the photo to the twins after receiving it from a tradie. Since then, Tanya and husband Vito have been desperate for the show to move on from their ‘cheating’ storyline – even having a heated confrontation with Shelley Craft as she questioned them in Sunday’s episode.Speaking to Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa this morning, the couple opened up about the fallout – and the “60 Minutes” treatment the show gave Tanya’s tell-all interview. “My biggest concern the whole time was: Hold on guys, it’s all fun and games, but this can really affect us on the outside, and people don’t realise that. “It is a TV show so you’re trying to say ‘OK, I’ll play the game and we’ll do this whole 60 Minutes interview thing’ … but people are actually going to think that I’ve committed murder.”That they have, with Tanya revealing she’d received “death threats” from members of the public. “[Messages like] ‘If I find you on the street, you better watch your back.’ People have called Vito’s business and called my agent because I‘m a makeup artist and left them abusive, abusive comments and emails.“You know what, people are angry at the moment. They’re really upset, it’s an audience that are not happy in their lives and are in lockdown … And they take it out on me,” she said. Attention did shift from Tanya and Vito in Monday night’s episode of The Block when All-Star contestants Mitch and Mark found themselves accused of bending the show’s rules. The pair raised eyebrows because they were ordering their materials ahead for rooms that will be tackled in the show’s coming weeks – a Block no-no.“There is definitely a lot more of this cheating scandal to unfold,” Tanya teased. “I think the reason why I particularly look so bloody smug all the time is because I know what’s going on.”In an earlier interview with news.com.au, Tanya had claimed that the production schedule wasn’t as top-secret as the show suggested and had in fact been seen by all the contestants.“Most of us came by [the schedule] because it was right by the toilet, it was right there on a massive board. It was right there in front of us, so I felt very singled out, like I was the only one who saw it but plenty of others used the toilet that day,” she said.“It felt almost like it could have been set up.”
