The fourth film in the Wachowskis’ franchise released two teaser videos on the movie’s website today, accessed by choosing either the red pill or the blue pill on the homepage.Choose the red pill and you get a video with flashes of clips from the upcoming movie with a voiceover that says, “This is the moment, for you to show us what is real, right now you believe it’s 10.07am but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Could be this is the first day of the rest of your life but if you want it, you’ve to fight for it”.The teaser features a quick glance at Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Neo, as well as newcomers to the franchise, Yayha Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff. And keeping in line with The Matrix’s propensity to muck around with your head – anyone else still questioning the nature of their reality every time they deja vu? – the website serves up slightly different versions of the red pill teaser video when you replay it again and again.Choose the blue pill from the homepage and you get a totally different video with a different voiceover. This time, it says, “Do you remember how you got here? You’ve lost your capacity to discern reality from fiction. What’s real is here and now, 10.08am, anything else is just your mind playing tricks on you. It becomes a problem when fantasies endanger us. We don’t want anyone to get hurt, do we?”The times in the voiceover on each video is customised to when you watch it.If you’ve already forgotten, in the world of The Matrix, take the red pill and you wake from the machine-simulated reality, take the blue pill and you remain a cocooned prisoner but you don’t know you are.NED-3498-What-to-Watch-Article-BannersDirected and co-written by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections is a return to the story for the first time since 2003, when the last of the original trilogy was released.Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson and Daniel Bernhardt are reprising their roles while Abdul-Mateen, Henwick, Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra and Christina Ricci are among the newcomers.Laurence Fishburne is not expected to appear with the actor confirming he “wasn’t invited back” to play Morpheus again. The plot details have been kept secret, but the first full trailer will be released on Thursday at 11pm AEST.The Matrix Resurrections will be released in cinemas in Australia on January 1, 2022Share your movies and TV obsessions | @wenleima
