It the three episodes of season two of the extreme boot camp style show which aired last week, the celebrity contestants were made to swing on a ladder underneath a hovering helicopter, had to escape a sunken vehicle, and had to crawl through a terrifying, tiny, dark wormhole-like tunnel, as well as being tear gassed, dunked in an ice bath, and made to competitively drag tyres and bergens for kilometres up a mountain side.The show, which is compelling, but sometimes uncomfortable, viewing features the likes of Sam Burgess, Jana Pittman, Brynne Edelsten, Dan Ewing, Heath Shaw, Jett Kenny and Mark Philippoussis. The cast is put through an elite training course by a team of ex-UK Special Forces soldiers led by the intimidating Ant Middleton.The Australian Communications and Media Authority confirmed it had already received viewer complaints about the show.“While under the co-regulatory system complaints should be directed to the broadcaster in the first instance, the ACMA has received three complaints about this season of SAS Australia,” a spokesperson said. “The ACMA has referred the complainants to the broadcaster. If the complainant does not receive a response from the broadcaster within 60 days, or is not satisfied with the response, they may refer their complaint to the ACMA for consideration.” No detail was provided as to which scenes or behaviours were complained about.Meanwhile the ACMA’s investigation into Channel 9’s hit dating series Married At First Sight is continuing.“The ACMA investigation into episodes of the 2021 season of Married At First Sight has progressed but is not yet finalised,” the spokesperson said.
