Speaking on morning radio, chief public health officer Nicola Spurrier said she had “nothing bad to report overnight”, suggesting there were no more positive cases. “He had a negative test on the 26th (of September) and had another test on the 29th and we got it back very quickly,” she said. “Because he was working, all he did was stop for petrol (while infectious) so those locations are listed and the rest of the time he spent with his family so they were his only other close contacts.”Professor Spurrier said contact tracers were still working to check QR code check-ins, review CCTV footage and credit card details to determine who attended venues at the same time as the positive case. A snap press conference was called on Thursday afternoon where it was announced that the man in his 20s tested positive during routine three-day testing required for his job. Professor Spurrier said his test showed the man — who lives in SA but is currently in Victoria — was “very early in his infectious period”.It was revealed the truck driver frequently travelled between SA and Victoria for work. The man’s fully vaccinated wife and their child had so far tested negative but they all must complete two weeks of isolation. It comes as the state reached a vaccination milestone, hitting 50 per cent of its population aged 16 and over now being fully vaccinated.SA is looking to achieve a minimum vaccination rate of 80 per cent within coming months.
