Sheeran’s wife Cherry Seaborn gave birth to their daughter Lyra in August last year, and he confessed he’s already nervous about how she’ll have to navigate having a famous father as she gets older.“I think, much like my career, there’ll be positives and negatives to it,” he says in the interview. “And I think there’s gonna be a lot of difficult conversations to have with her early on about how people are going to treat her. There’s baggage that comes with it, but there’s also nice stuff that comes with it. “My job is super-flexible so I’ll get to spend lots of time with her, and I can plan my job around her, and I can take her round the world.”But he says he anticipates Lyra having “difficulty trying to figure out who her friends are when she’s a teenager”. He said he went through the same thing when he first found fame: “I know who my really, really close friends are now after 10 years of having a career. But I think for her it’ll just be from the beginning. I hope she’ll know who are her real friends and who aren’t. But we’ll see. You know this is new ground for me. I’ve never been a dad before so this is new ground and I’m gonna figure it out as I go along.”The chat was filmed before Sheeran was diagnosed with Covid earlier this week – with shocking news yesterday that baby Lyra has also tested positive. With his new album due for release tomorrow, Sheeran is currently isolating with his daughter for 10 days away from his wife.He told The Daily Mail: “I’m self-isolating with my daughter. I have been alone with her, without my wife, since we are both positive. I am now going to spend 10 days alone with her.”The musician seemed to be in good spirits while spending quality time with his daughter, joking that he’s “just eating all the time”.“Sometimes I am away and spend just two days a week with her, so being able to be with her for 10 straight days is great. I just spoke to Cherry and told her to relax, take long baths! Our fridge is full and we are just eating all the time.”Watch Ed Sheeran’s full interview on The Project, 6.30pm tonight on Ten
