The rally ‘Rise Up Melbourne’ will see protesters gather at the State Library at noon and then march together towards Parliament House. On an encrypted Telegram group that boasts close to 15,000 members, demonstrators are encouraged to “bring signs, megaphones and flags”.Controversial MP Craig Kelly is expected to be in attendance. The former Liberal left the party early this year to join Clive Palmer in leading the United Australia Party at the next election.Mr Kelly, who said he will introduce a bill to ban coronavirus vaccine passports in Australia “as soon as parliament recommences”, shared a Twitter post late last night encouraging other Victorians to join the march.“We must stop this tyranny,” he wrote.“I’m so looking forward to standing with all my friends. United we stand.”Rouge Liberal MP Bernie Finn is also expected to be at the rally.Mr Finn drew outrage after he posted an image likening Premier Daniel Andrews to Adolf Hitler. On a Facebook post last night, Mr Finn shared a photo outlining the details for the event.“Victoria’s future is at stake – and a little rain never hurt anyone,” the post reads.A second anti-vax mandate rally is also planned for Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday afternoon.Another self-dubbed ‘freedom’ assembly, Winning Victoria Back announced their plans to hold a “press conference” at the entrance gates to Government House. The event is expected to see a range of speeches from “medical specialists” and war veterans.
