The 26-year-old Bachelorette had invited Chatfield to feature as her “best friend” on the final episode of the Channel 10 dating show last Thursday, which saw her give her final rose to Darvid Garayeli. But just hours before it aired, Blurton unfollowed Chatfield on Instagram after Chatfield debuted her new romance with one of the show’s earlier frontrunners, Konrad Bien-Stephens.In a series of interviews after the finale, Blurton insisted she hadn’t fallen out with Chatfield, instead claiming she was disappointed her relationship – which was outed by paparazzi a week earlier – “tainted” the ending of the show. But now she has confirmed the pair are no longer friends, taking to Instagram to slam Chatfield for displaying “narcissism,” while never actually mentioning her by name. “I’m not a hostile person and literally do not have any hate in my heart. I put my heart and soul into (the show). Not only that but for what it meant for the LGBTQIA+ and First Nations community to have that display of representation,” Blurton began.“Which moves onto my new point. The hardest point. For that to be tainted ONCE again by 1. To someone I thought was a close friend. 2. Another white woman displaying what white privilege looks like. 3. A very clear display of narcissism. Hurts me. Literally pains me.“I’ve reached out to this person to resolve this ‘conflict’ which in fact, classic naive me, adult me went to this person to communicate openly about the layers of complexity that this persons actions show and take away from NOT only me but what it meant for a queer woman of colour.” Blurton finished: “You guys asked for my comment. There it is. Now go give them more airtime in which is what this is exactly about.”Bien-Stephens was sent packing after the hometown visits this season, leaving viewers heartbroken as they were convinced he’d last the distance. But before the episode aired — and just weeks after the finale was filmed — video emerged of Chatfield and Bien-Stephens kissing in Byron Bay, with the pair officially confirming they were an item in a series of loved-up photos this week.“I guess because Konrad was such a favourite, the spoilers taint the show a little bit,” Brooke told KIIS FM radio presenters Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.“If people know what the outcome would be, they’re not going to watch the show. And that’s fair enough.”When Blurton was announced as this season’s Bachelorette back in May, Chatfield took to Instagram to declare how thrilled she was that her friend would be the leading lady.“The Indigenous representation! The queer representation! It gives me goosebumps thinking about what this means for Australia!” Chatfield wrote, alongside a selfie of the pair.“Brooke is one of the best people I’ve ever met. She’s intelligent, down to earth, hilarious and knows herself so bloody well. Love you sooo much.”
