Crowd cap slapped on Australian Open

OSTN Staff

The Andrews government will enforce a limit on attendances at the Open as Omicron cases continue to surge around the state. All tickets that have already been sold will be honoured, even for events that may already be over 50 per cent of their total capacity. But all further sales will be limited to stay within the new restrictions. It is also expected that masks will be enforced at all times except when eating and drinking. There were 17,922 fans in attendance Monday, significantly less than the restricted 30,000 capacity and a far cry from the 64,387 that took in the action at Melbourne Park during opening day in 2020.More to come
