New United Business cardholders can earn up to 150,000 miles with this elevated offer.

  • The United℠ Business Card is offering an elevated welcome bonus worth up to 150,000 miles.
  • You can earn United℠ Business Card.
  • The card offers excellent benefits including a free first checked bag and priority boarding.

United Airlines flyers have plenty of choices if they’re looking for a co-branded credit card. Chase issues a total of six United credit cards, ranging from a no-annual-fee version to premium cards with United Club airport lounge access.

For small-business owners, the United℠ Business Card is an excellent pick. With a reasonable United℠ Business Card, it’s great for frequent and even occasional flyers. And now it’s offering a huge elevated welcome bonus: United℠ Business Card.

The spending requirement to unlock the full bonus is substantial, but if you can manage it, the 150,000 miles you’ll earn are worth around $1,950 in flights, based on Insider’s valuation of 1.3 cents per United mile.

United miles are useful even if you don’t fly the airline often, because you don’t have to redeem them for United flights. You can also use United miles for award flights on Star Alliance and non-alliance partners, including Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Aer Lingus.

Keep in mind three other United co-branded cards — the United℠ Explorer Card, United Gateway℠ Card, and United Club℠ Infinite Card — are also offering increased sign-up bonuses for a limited time, so be sure to compare these offers to see which is the best deal for you.

United Business Card — Earn up to 150,000 miles

To qualify for the United℠ Business Card, you’ll need to have a small business — but it doesn’t need to be a huge corporation or LLC. If you have a side gig like freelancing, driving for Uber, or Airbnb hosting, you could be eligible for a small-business card.

United Business Card benefits

Along with a welcome bonus of United℠ Business Card, the United℠ Business Card comes with perks that can save you money when you fly United, including:

  • A free first checked bag (worth $35 each way) for the cardholder and one companion on the same reservation (you must use the card to pay for your ticket, or the taxes and fees on an award ticket)
  • Two United Club one-time passes each card anniversary
  • Priority boarding
  • 25% back as a statement credit on United inflight purchases
  • $100 United credit after making seven or more United flight purchases of $100 or more each card anniversary year

In addition, cardholders receive a “better together” bonus of 5,000 bonus miles each card anniversary when they have the United℠ Business Card and a personal United credit card like the United℠ Explorer Card, United Gateway℠ Card, United Club℠ Infinite Card, or United Quest℠ Card.

The United℠ Business Card also earns bonus miles in a wide variety of categories that can be helpful for small businesses, including 2x miles on United purchases, dining, gas stations, office supply stores, and local transit and commuting. All other eligible purchases earn 1 mile per dollar.

If you’re working toward elite status with United, the United℠ Business Card can give you a boost toward your goal. Cardholders receive 500 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) for every $12,000 spent on purchases with the card, up to 1,000 PQP per calendar year.

On top of United-specific perks, the United℠ Business Card comes with a broad array of purchase and travel protections, including primary car rental insurance (when renting for business purposes), baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, trip cancellation/interruption insurance, trip delay reimbursement, purchase protection, and extended warranty.

How to use United miles

If you meet the full spending requirement to earn the welcome bonus, you’ll have 150,000 United miles (plus at least another 20,000 miles from meeting the card’s minimum spending requirement).

Although United no longer has an official award chart and has moved to dynamic pricing, you can expect to pay anywhere from 5,000 to 30,000 miles for a domestic award flight in economy class, and more for flights to other regions. Exact pricing depends on the route, award availability, and time of year.

However, one little-known perk on all United credit cards is expanded award availability. If you have a United card, you’ll see more available saver award seats than the general public. This is handy if you’re looking for multiple award flights, and can save you a ton of miles.

At the saver level, 150,000 United miles should be enough for at least two round-trip economy award flights to Europe or Asia, or multiple round-trip flights within North America.

Which United credit card is right for you?

The United℠ Business Card has the highest welcome bonus of any United card right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best deal for everyone — especially considering the minimum spending requirement is so high. If you don’t fly United often enough to take advantage of these cards’ United-specific benefits, but still want to earn United miles, it’s also worth looking at cards that earn transferable Chase Ultimate Rewards points. When you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, you can transfer Ultimate Rewards points to United at a 1:1 ratio — as well as to over a dozen other Chase transfer partners.
