The father-of-five became emotional as news reporter Michael Usher went over details of the story, including that Charlise’s stepdad had been charged with the nine-year-old’s murder.Charlise, who lives with her grandmother on the Tweed Heads, was holidaying with her mother Kallista Mutten and fiance Justin Stein at the time of her murder. They were staying at a luxury Mount Wilson wedding venue just outside of Sydney, owned by Mr Stein’s family. “This little girl should have been having a fantastic time … having a brilliant catch up with mum and all that and absolute harm has come her way, it’s awful,” Usher told the Breakfast team. Geyer struggled to find the right words in response.“Sometimes there are crimes committed that are absolutely devastating,” he said. “I can’t believe it … it brings me to tears, I mean this little girl, you know, it’s just, it’s unfair, it’s just you know …”Geyer is heard struggling with his emotions as Usher agrees and says “it punches you in the gut and rips your heart out when you hear these stories”. Fellow host Chris Page noted the stepfather had been charged but had not yet been found guilty in court. “For people who do these sort of things to little kids there’s not there’s not a punishment in the world that’s good enough,” he said. Geyer added: “As fathers we think straight away of your own kids …” before becoming overwhelmed again, saying: “it’s horrific.”Charlise was reported missing on Friday, January 14 and was eventually found inside a barrel after a five-day ground and air search around the Mt Wilson property.NED-5347 Body in Barrel Map
