Savings

The Union Bank Bank Freely Savings Account is a decent choice if you don’t want to deal with monthly service fees. Online banks offer higher interest rates, though.

Checking

One of the bank’s standout products is the Union Bank Freely Checking Account. The account doesn’t charge monthly services or out-of-network ATM fees. You’ll also get two monthly reimbursements if you are charged by an out-of-network ATM.

CD

Union Bank Certificate of Deposit might be ideal if you’re able to keep your money in an account for more than 31 days. Terms of 31 days or longer only require a minimum opening deposit of $350, which is pretty low compared to other banks.

Money market account

The Union Bank Money Market Account works best if you can maintain at least $2,500 in your account daily. By meeting this requirement, you’ll waive the monthly service fee.

If that seems like too much money to keep in your account, our best money markets account guide has options with lower minimum opening deposits.

Is Union Bank trustworthy?

The Better Business Bureau rates banks by how they interact with customers. Union Bank received an A+ rating.

A good BBB rating doesn’t necessarily mean your relationship with the bank will be perfect. You’ll want to talk to current customers or read online customer reviews to get a well-balanced view of the bank.

Union Bank has been involved in one public controversy. In 2021, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued a cease and desist order against Union Bank. The OCC stated the bank had unsafe practices relating to its technology and operational risk management.
