Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S22 series of premium phones during its Galaxy Unpacked event on February 9, which includes the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Galaxy S22 phones are available for preorder now from Samsung and carriers starting at $800 for the Galaxy S22, $1,000 for the Galaxy S22 Plus, and $1,200 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. They’ll be widely available to buy starting on February 25 from Samsung, carriers, and major retailers.

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are similar to the Galaxy S21 with refreshed specs

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus contain iterative upgrades to the processor and cameras over the previous Galaxy S21 series, which is fairly standard for new Samsung phone releases.

Overall, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are similar to the Galaxy S21 series, save for an update to the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile processor and refreshed cameras.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is a mashup of a Galaxy Note and Galaxy S

However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra contains more significant feature upgrades. For all intents and purposes, it’s basically a new Galaxy Note phone with the Galaxy S model name. It also comes with the superior cameras that Samsung traditionally reserved for its Galaxy S phones.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra’s design looks more like a Galaxy Note phone than it does a Galaxy S phone, thanks to its curved front and back edges and flat top and bottom. And most importantly, it also comes with an S Pen stylus, including the housing for the S Pen, which was exclusive to Samsung’s Galaxy Note series.

Apart from the S Pen, Samsung is positioning the Galaxy S22 Ultra as the ultimate camera phone with its 108-megapixel (MP) main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 10MP 3x optical zoom camera, and a 10MP 10x optical zoom camera for clearer shots of far-away objects and subjects.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus sport a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP 3x optical zoom camera.

Still, all three Galaxy S22 phones run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in the US and they will all essentially define the premium Android phone experience for 2022.
