Disability advocate and former tennis star Dylan Alcott made the announcement on behalf of the state government.The RATs will be available from Saturday at current testing sites and through disability liaisons officers.“Dan and his government wanted me to be the first person to tell you,” Mr Alcott said in a video on Thursday.“One in five Victorians live with some form of disability and for a portion of these people if they were to get Covid, they’re at risk of hospitalisation or severe illness. “So I called Dan, I was like, mate, we need to do something so these people feel a little bit safer.”Mr Alcott said the offer would help people with disabilities to start living their life in a safe way.“I hope that the rest of the country follows suit,” he added.People will need to provide some evidence of eligibility, like an NDIS statement, to collect up to 20 tests at once.
